Marco

The Founder

After dreaming up a hostel idea while traveling through India, he decided to make it a reality and opened Community Hostel! He based the hostel on amazing food, good ambiance and focused on always making it a home away from home for everyone!

Kelly

La Jefa

Kelly grew up in Pennsylvania, lived in New York for 5 years, and moved to Ecuador in 2024 after falling in love with Quito while backpacking in South America. After traveling to 50 countries around the world, she is now living her dream of managing a hostel and loves that she still gets to be part of the travel community without traveling. Her favorite things are skiing, hiking, rock climbing, dancing salsa and bachata, and being an auntie to her niece and nephews in the U.S. She loves sharing all of the hidden gems she’s found in Quito with guests, so ask her for recommendations 🙂

Although you might not see them often at the hostel, they are the people that own the house and also Marco’s parents. Both Alicia and Marco own two other businesses that are in the same house as the hostel and speak pretty good english. So, If you need any good advice on places to go in Quito and we can’t answer them please do not hesitate to ask them, they love helping.

Omar

El Super Chofer!

Omar came to work with us at the beginning of this venture, he helps us with airport pick ups and drop offs and the laundry for the hostel. He is the first person you will meet at the airport and he will always do things with a big smile on his face! He can also go with you to explore Ecuador and make sure that your time outside the hostel is as good as your time inside the hostel!
